Remote Keyless Entry

Drivers commonly refer to a remote keyless entry (RKE) as the transponder. The transponder is actually a chip embedded in the head of the key and is part of a completely different system from the RKE.

RKE’s are hand-held transmitters that lock, unlock, sound alarm, open the trunk, open doors and perform functions from a distance. Press the button and your car will respond. Depending on the year, make and model of your car, it may come equipped with remote functions, or you may have your car retrofitted with an after-market system. At Ekeys4Cars, we supply and service most factory remotes, however we do very limited work with after-market products.

RKE’s come separate or integrated with the ignition key. These integrated keys are called Remote Headed Keys (RHK) and have become quite popular.

If you need a spare remote, Ekeys4Cars carries a large supply of remotes and remote headed keys in stock. If you have a remote or RHK that isn’t functioning properly, bring it into our North Andover, MA shop. We can test it and try to repair it by replacing the battery, re-soldering the battery clip, replacing a broken case or worn out rubber pads, for a fraction of the price you would pay at a dealership. We can also re-shell RHKs when they break.
